The Cotton Classic Car Club presented the 6th annual “Cars & Cycles Against Cancer” car and cycle show on June 5-6th, which had to be the most beautiful weekend of the summer in Blytheville, Arkansas .

There were approximately 600 bikes, cars and trucks of all makes and models that came together at the Arkansas Aeroplex to support the “Northeast Arkansas Relay For Life” and our fight against CANCER!!

We were so excited to have entries from as far away as:  Chicago, Chattanooga, Pensacola, Tulsa, St. Louis, Memphis, Nashville, and all points in between!!!

This year’s event had to be moved from the local park to the Aeroplex and we found a new home.  The Aeroplex is a perfect setting for one of the largest shows in Northeast Arkansas.

The show began Friday night the 5th with registration at the host hotel, Holiday Inn of Blytheville.  With author Bert Levy signing his books and telling great racing stories.  Followed with a parade of cars to the “Relay For Life” for games, great food, and live entertainment.

Saturday morning begin at 7:30 with much needed coffee and doughnuts served by the Blytheville Rotary Club.  The cars and bikes begin rolling in.  Blytheville Mayor Harrison welcomed everyone and we were off and running.

Kay Staggs our NSRA state rep was there with her team inspecting cars and promoting the NSRA.

The SCCA Sports Car Club of America also had a Pro-solo event just two blocks away and what a wonderful group of people and WOW!  Great Fast CARS!!!!!  The SCCA racing was an outstanding addition to our show.  SCCA presented us with a very nice check to help us Fight Cancer!!!  Thank you all very much!!

The show was packed with something going on all day long.  Montana “famous pinstriper “ was on hand decorating bikes and cars.  We had remote control Nascars for kids of all ages.  The ladies enjoyed a shuttle to our historic downtown area for shopping.  The food was outstanding from Harry Myers famous BBQ to Egg rolls and you could finish all that off with some Home Made Ice cream.

Our DJ and Mc’s kept things hopping, along with some outstanding entertainment all day:  Lisa Askew, The Deep River Band, Charles Moody, The Delta Queens and the Dennis Gurley Band—To top that we had an “Austin Powers” impersonator that kept everyone laughing and helped us celebrate the 50th Mini Cooper Birthday Party!

There were fantastic door prizes all day long for entrants, with drawings for $100, 50/50 pot, a 1980 Corvette given away by the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce, $3,000 and $2,000 cash given away by the Nucor Dream Team, and finished the day with the Show Case of Cars 35 bikes, cars and trucks.

Our “Very Best Of Show” was Bill Johns, from Holcomb, MO with his extremely beautiful 41 Willys Coupe and trailer, built by Bill himself with a little help on the flames and the interior.  One very nice ride!!!!

Our largest club award went to the “FastGlass” Corvette Club from Jonesboro, Arkansas, with 30 cars there.  Also keys to the City were presented to Harry Myers BBQ and the Jackson Rod and Custom Club from the Bunny Run in Jackson, TN.

Kars for Kids were there with an outstanding display of drag cars and presented awards to Bill Townsend of Caruthersville, MO and his outstanding 1948 Ford F-1, Tim Williams of Marion, AR of the Delta Cruisers and his sharp 1932 Ford Coupe, and to Bill Johns with the 41’ Willys.

Saturday night finished off with happy hour at the Holiday Inn, and a FANTASTIC performance by the Terry Mike Jeffery Band!!!  A lot packed in a small time, but the comments from practically everyone was we will be back and bring more with us.  Each year we have been very fortunate for our show to grow.  See “We Realize Without You and Your Cars, We Don’t Have Anything” so when you come to our show, you will not find better Hospitality anywhere!
