Our good friend, Barrett Harrison, Mayor of Blytheville, Arkansas, is once again putting on a fabulous car show with all of the proceedes going to the battle against cancer.  This show has been held now for several years and has a habit of drawing a huge number of entries.  I did manage to get over there last year and can only say that I had never been to a car show with so many different cars and different things going on.

This years show is June 5-6 and is open to all cars, trucks, foreign cars and motorcycles.  Entry fee is $20 per vehicle and there will be plaques and T-shirts for the first 500 that register.  There will be a Mini Cooper 50th anniversary celebration and “Austin Powers” will be there to keep things on an up beat.  SCCA will also be running a National event in Blytheville that same weekend.

There will be drawings for a 1980 Corvette, $2,000 and $3,000 for those that buy the raffle tickets.  Saturday night will feature a huge Elvis Tribute at the host hotel for which tickets will be available for $5.00.  There are also too many other things going on to mention here so just check it out at www.carsandcyclesagainstcancer.com .

Barrett (Barry) will have a tent set up for the British Car Contingent and if you phone him as you near Blytheville he will dispatch a police escort to lead you into town.

This show is held in a beautiful, forested, city park that must have been designed for this type of show.  It is perfect.  In fact, I found that the entire show is designed to make everyone feel quite welcome and insures that everyone has a great time.

At this time Dodie and I are planning on attending the Lotus Owners Gathering at the Barber Motorsports park in Birmingham the weekend prior to this great show and will go directly from the LOG to the Blytheville Show.  That is, if God is willing and the crick don’t rise.

See you in Blytheville.
